Mompreneur Monday: Genevieve and Lucy

Happy Monday! I have a lovely mompreneur to introduce you to today, Lisa from Genevieve and Lucy.

I met Lisa a while back during #mombizmondays and she is just a delight!! Read more about why she does what she does, and what she hopes to teach her children in being a mompreneur.

What do you do?

I help people connect and share good news by designing one of a kind stationery for their most special occasions. I do this because I have always loved occasions like weddings and the arrival of new babies. I love being able to help set the tone & personality of these special events and help them share their joy with the world.

How do you balance that with being a Mom?

Balancing this with being a Mom has been a real challenge. And making it even more difficult was working a full-time day job at the same time. The best I could do was try and schedule my time well. Work my full time day job. Fit in some of my business during my lunch hour. And then fitting in more when the kids went to bed and on weekends. I even used my vacation days for working on my business. I am now in the midst of a whole new balancing act. Having recently been laid off I am learning to reschedule my time and find a new balance. After all, this lay off could be a blessing in disguise. I will have more time to work on my business and balance that with my family.

What do you hope to teach your children in being a Mompreneur?

I hope being a Momprenuer will teach my children they can do anything as long as they work hard at what they love. My 8 year old daughter already talks about making and selling her work online. I think she is already a budding entrepreneur!

Tina Dean Designs...a giveaway!

Another anniversary celebration giveaway, and this one is sponsored by the wonderful Tina of Tina Dean Designs!

I first met Tina through The Artisan Group, and we have definitely become creative cohorts...brainstorming amazing clutch designs, talking about what keeps us inspired, emailing about parenting questions and triumphs.

I will admit that I didn't really understand what Tina's method was when I first heard of it. Plarn. What the who? But, it's seriously genius (recycled bags made into plastic-yarn aka: plarn) and it feels so good to carry and use something that is upcycled and repurposed.

You already know about the amazing black VHS tape clutch she's made me, she's made YOU something!

small TDD peppermint basket full of....

Sweet Stella's seasonal notestack, 8 holiday favour pouches, 2 tiny stacks and a paper paillette ornament!

Over $50 value!! Great for gift giving, or for keeping for yourself!

What's Next Wednesday: Craft Show Prep, Week 2

Man oh man! I have been on-the-go and in creation mode for the past few weeks! Between wedding cakes, cards for weddings, stationary for the craft seems to never stop!

Here are a few things that I have been working on!

Seasonal Stacks - 12 pages of handcut and stamped stationary, bound with cream ribbon. Perfect for gifts that need to be sent in the mail!

Tiny Stacks...they measure about 2"x3", and are the perfect stocking stuffer! Great for tossing in your purse to jot down quick notes, putting cute notes in your kiddos' lunchbox or tucking lovenotes in your sweetie's wallet! Bound with coordinating ribbon.

On the way...or rather, on the coffee table right now and all cut last night, 160 favour pouches, 12 more stacks of everyday stationary, 18 more Tiny Stacks! Then to be completed....7 journal embellishments, 30 ornaments, and as many pinwheels as I can make before the show!

What's Next Wednesday: Crafting up a Storm! no rest for the wicked right?

I have my first ever craft show and sale coming up at the beginning of November, and to be completely honest, I am absolutely terrified!

Will people like my stuff?

How do I display everything?

How much stock do I take?

Do I need a banner?

What about business many of those?

So many questions, and right now I'm just in production mode! Over the past two days, I've whipped up 34 notestacks (24 of them Holiday themed, and 10 of them everyday) and 22 tiny stacks (about the size of a matchbook! They're SO cute and are perfect to keep in your purse!). I've also done up 18 ornaments, and figured out some display aspects.

I'll be previewing alot of things here, including a mock up of the display to get some feedback from you all, but here's a little peek to tide you over! vases with branches...

Stay tuned for more peeks and progress!

Y3W Friday: Jeff and Annie

As you may have noticed, I've been a little MIA this week and for some very good reasons.

1) my husband has been travelling for business, so I've been incredibly on the go with our 15month old
2) it was my birthday on Wednesday
3) it is my best-friend's wedding tomorrow...and I'm making her cake {sneaking in a quick blog post before getting started on fondant work today!}

What has made this week exceptionally great was getting these three photo's from the GBK Productions Primetime Emmy Gifting Suite...on my birthday

Jeff heart seriously stopped for a second (maybe millisecond) when I saw this. Amazing!

Annie of Charlie's newest Angel's! Simply gorgeous!

"She's a big fan? Of course! I'd LOVE to pose with her stationery!" -- Jeff Probst

Now, the stationary that they were holding...that their wonderful hands actually touched (can you even imagine? I made something that Jeff and Annie held in their own two hands!) was taken home by one of the lovely gals from GBK Productions...but...

It can be reproduced, and even made custom...just for you!

The Big Stack featured 60 pages of hand cut patterned, solid and textured acid free papers, all stamped with acid free ink in the lower right hand corner. It was then bound with chocolate brown recycled twine.

Get YOUR hands on one today!

Don't forget to link up Your Three Words with Jenni!

Special Post: launchHER

Another reason to be thankful today...the notestacks that I made for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards Gifting Suite (being set up at this very moment by The Artisan Group!) was featured in the September launchHER newsletter!!

Sweet Stella's is the featured Send A Note today!

What a way to {almost} end the week!!

{HUGE thank you to Kristal from Atutudes Handmade Tutu's for alerting me to the feature!}

What's Next Wednesday: Small Stacks

This morning, I whipped up a little somethin' somethin' inspired by the fabulous Lina at Candy Couture Events! We had a coffee date this afternoon, to talk about all things creative and brainstorm about collaboration, and since my husband brought home her yummy cake pops last week, I wanted to give her something awesome today.

Introducing...the Small Stack!

Measuring 4.25"x5.5", the Small Stack features 24 pages of beautiful and bright acid-free cardstock and paper! Stamped in the corner with your choice of motif! Then, the Small Stack is bound with recycled twine!

How gorgeous is that? (and yes, I'm biased, but I really do think it's gorgeous!)

Then add a pinwheel to the top, and you have a gift worth giving!!

Thank you, Candy Couture Events, for the inspiration!

Emmy Given Wednesday: Display Piece Reveal

Today's the day that I reveal to you the Stack that will be going on display at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Award GBK Productions Gifting Suite!! (I still can't get over that!)

I absolutely love these colours! Teal, mustard, royal blue and muted purple! Throw in some stone and some white and....voila!

Stamped in the corner with a purple finch, tied with recycled twine

1" (or so) of handstamped paper! A labour of love...and a lovely labour at that!

What do yo think??

Emmy Given Wednesday: Extra! Extra!

The Press Stacks are done!!

I went back to the drawing board on the journals and decided to gift the Stacks to the Press, with a bit of a twist.

Pretty purple birds....all tied up with chocolate brown recycled twine! I absolutely LOVE the way the twine twists and turns up off the pages!

If you're wondering what happened to the journals, don't fret! They're still being created and are in the embellishment stage right now...and will be available very soon for you (yes! YOU!) to purchase on Etsy! In fact, today I found the most gorgeous and delicate feathers (feathers! New to the Sweet Stella's tool box!) to enhance and play off of the bold abstract painted covers. I am oh-so-excited to share them with you, but for right now there are some very important custom birthday orders that need my attention!

Join me next week when I reveal my display piece!

Emmy Given Wednesday: 95 Down

That's right!! 95 of these beauties are all cut and ready to be stamped, trimmed, tied and packaged!

I am absolutely in love with them all. It was so hard to pick favourites yesterday as I was cutting, and each one I felt a little pang of oooh...I should keep that one! when leafing through the pages that would create a Stack.

My absolute favourites...

Grey Damask + Royal Purple Linen + Raspberry Stone
Lime Circles + Yellow Linen + Tangerine Stone
Pink Damask + Watermelon Linen + Dove Grey Stone

The textures and colours are brilliant. I tend to gravitate toward bright colour punches with a muted tone to ground the collection, so I'm hoping that my personality as an artist shines through these 100 Stacks.

And...I did throw in some muted greys, blues and greens for variety and to make sure that the Stacks aren't too out there and shocking.

As for stamps, thank you all so much for your input as to what to adorn them with! I'm going to go with the Flowers and Reeds, Falling Leaves and I think Paisley. I'm hemming and hawing over the Tic-Tac-Toe, because I think it's adorable, but not sure it would go over well for this event.

OH! And I got GREAT news from Curry's this week. My sketchbooks that will turn into handpainted lovely journals will be to me in 3 weeks!!! Colour me happy!

Emmy Given Wednesday: Help Me Choose!

Things are getting into full production mode in my studio!

What is typically our guest bed currently has Notestacks in the makings all laid out and ready to be cut then embellished with stamps.

Lovely combinations like...

I seriously am falling in love with each and every stack that I put my hands on, and there are so many that I wish I could keep! On Sunday, I paired up 3 or 4 different citrusy ones, and those have become a huge favourite around here!

What I need your help with are the embellishments! I'd love some feedback, so please post comments, and I'll be posting a poll over at the top left for you to vote until next Wednesday.

Should I do all one design, a special Emmy stack, or should I mix it up and do a few?

Of the stamp designs below, which should I go with??

Whimsical Songbird

Falling Leaves (just the leaves)

Umbrellas and Galoshes

Mix Matched Trees

Flowers and Reeds (just the flowers and reeds)

So...what do you think?! Oh, the options!!
