April Self Care Challenge

I'm really hoping that the old addage of April showers bring May flowers isn't true this month, but on the off chance that this post meets you with rain, look forward to the coming of Spring.

Rebirth
Breath
Growth

Hold that dear as we get to our April self care challenge exercise!

Turning over the soil and breathing new life into your garden is your activity for this month. Clean out the debris that fall and winter has left, and see the green again.

There's alot to be said for getting your hands dirty, and a certain sense of accomplishment when you get out there and beautify the space that you live in. Your soul is replenished, there is new breath...new life.

And, what's even better is that you get to wash off all of that dirt and grime after you're done tilling the earth. Make it an extra long hot shower, and sing your little heart out!

Spring Home Decor featured on #Etsy

On our cruise, I had the pleasure of reading the pages of the January issue of Vogue. It was incredibly inspiring and I am so excited for the new trends that will be gracing home decor and fashion this spring.

Clockwise from top left...

An inspirational message with a graphic tribal print, in fantastic tones for spring. I love this DO IT print from Indigo Rain. It would be perfect for a powder room or art studio.

Pastel pink, grey and white colorblocked pillow by Jillian Rene Decor. I love pretty much everything in her shop, and think that this pillow is perfect to breathe new life into your space for spring.

The equestrian trend is alive and strong this year, and we will see everything from horse bit styled rings to leather patches on elbows. This watercolor painting from Mallalu is stunning both in imagery and color.

I would be remiss not to choose something in a purple tone for this little collection, given that it is the Pantone color of the year. This ombre vase by Carriage Oak Cottage is stunning, and looks perfect with a bunch of dried lavender.

Nesting bowls are certainly a favorite of mine in my own shop, and I always love seeing how others interpret them. These delicate bowls are created out of paper, by Anthology on Main.

What trends are you excited to see this Spring?

Spring Wreathes on Pinterest

With all of the grey and white out front of our house, it's time to spruce up the front door and invite the bold colours of Spring. Wreathes and door embellishments are some of my favourite things to craft, so when I found this one on Pinterest, I knew that it would be a fresh take on the traditional wreath.

Rolled fabric rosettes can be created in literally any fabric of your choice. Simply cover a foam wreath form with fabric, then glue your rosettes on. Voila! Done and done!

Since our front door is a dark charcoal color, I am thinking of a white base {we have a covered porch, so I don't worry too much about it getting dirty} and then rosettes in mint, coral and peach!

Spa Indulgence Giveaway

I recently discovered a cure for my cracked heels and dry knees {you boy moms will understand...all the crawling around the floor, playing trucks and trains, rough housing etc.} and I wanted to share it with you all...there's a giveaway at the end, so keep reading!

Seriously, the most amazing and luxurious lotion I have ever tried.

I hate the winter because it means that I have to wear socks. And since I rebel and try not to wear them, I end up with cracked heels, which are not so flattering going into sandal weather.

I chatted with my friend Jennifer from Aloette about this, and she suggested the Body Butter Balm. I was absolutely shocked.

First, it's shaped like a deodorant and you twist the base to push the body butter up. Then you simply rub it on your dry, cracked and sore skin. Then, you go to sleep.

Seriously.

The next morning, my heels felt so much better and the cracks started to close up! Not to mention my feet had a lovely smell of orange vanilla bean!

I use the body butter balm every night and am no longer embarrassed by my feet!

Now's your chance to win a FULL SIZE Body Butter Balm!! Enter the giveaway below.

*Disclaimer: I was not compensated for running this giveaway. I hosted a party in March, and used my rewards to get an extra body butter balm to giveaway on the blog because I love it that much!

Special Post: Stella McCartney and Matches Fashion

As spring starts to poke its lovely face through the barely snow covered grounds, I find myself in need of a wardrobe change. Each season, I try to get a few key pieces that I know I can wear with jeans as well as dress pants, pencil skirts and things of the sort of get the most out of some really inspired, quality designs.

Today, I am finding that in the Stella McCartney collection at Matches Fashion. The bold pops of yellow and blue are paired perfectly with white, grey and black – just absolutely stunning and perfect for spring!

A few favourites that I would like to point your ever keen eye to…

I was immediately drawn to the Michelle jacket. The amazing pop of yellow was just stunning to see, and I could definitely see it paired with a simple white tee, grey skinny jeans and a pair of grey or nude pumps. Perfect for a luncheon out with the girls, or for an after business event. So unexpected, and yet so perfect!

The Stella McCartney collection at Matches Fashion isn’t all about punches of colour on clothing. Don’t underestimate the impact that an accessory can have in your wardrobe! Sometimes, all you need is the perfect handbag or pair of shoes to update for the season ahead!

I personally am in love with the Falabella bucket bag. First and foremost, it is orange and considering that I already have a lot of dark denim and cream tops, it would go perfectly with a lot of what I already have. I look at it as a wise investment for a piece that I will love for many years to come. It’s simply stunning, and roomy too! It would be perfect for a day shopping, as a travel carryon...really, it is perfect for everyday!

Within the Stella McCartney collection, you’ll find whimsical pieces that catch your eye more than once. I’ve looked at the same pieces (for example, the Gwen dress) over and over, and see a captivating new beauty every time I look at it.

The collection is simply breathtaking!
