The Easiest Trifle You Will Ever Make...Ever #recipe #holiday #dessert

This Spring, we were invited to the first BBQ potluck of the season and I was assigned dessert. More specifically, "cookies, dessert or ju jubes"

So I did what any good guest would do and tried to make a dessert that was super yummy and would be a home run.

1 pkg of Oreo cookies
1 pkg of Two Bite Brownies
11 Reese Peanut Butter Cups
2 large tubs of Cool Whip
1 small tub of Cool Whip

Layer 1: Cool Whip
Layer 2: chopped Reese Peanut Butter Cups
Layer 3: Cool Whip
Layer 4: crushed Oreo cookies
Layer 5: Cool Whip
Layer 6: chopped Two Bite Brownies, chopped Reese Peanut Butter cups, crushed Oreo cookies
Layer 7: Cool Whip
Layer 8: chopped Reese Peanut Butter Cups

Garnish with a whole Oreo and halved Two Bite Brownie

Seriously...that's it. Pretty much the easiest trifle recipe ever, and it was incredibly delicious.

Set in the fridge to firm up for 1 hour prior to serving.

Add some chocolate pudding to your cool whip and alternate layers of regular cool whip with chocolate pudding whip
Add pound cake instead of brownies
Drizzle melted chocolate over the top before setting in the fridge.

(and PS: there's no shame in licking the bowl or your plate when you are finished your portion)

Christmas Gift Checklist #printable

Yet another list that I keep on my phone is one for ongoing gift ideas for my husband and the boys. When it comes time to go out in search of Christmas gifts, I usually have a whole other list that includes my best friends kiddos, grandparents, the boys' aunt and uncle...the whole gang.

Since I am hoping to divide and conquer the gift list this year, I thought a printable would be helpful so my husband and I can trade it back and forth and strike things off the list!

As always, one space left open for anyone that you might need to add...the mail carrier, hair stylist, baby sitter...add them as needed in the open space!

You can download the gift checklist HERE for free!

Custom Holiday Greeting Cards

Oh there's no place like home for the holidays...happy you!

And if you can't be home for the holidays, the best way to get in touch with those near and far is to send a custom holiday greeting card!

Elephoto makes choosing your custom holiday card seamless, and with a wide variety of layouts, quantities and paper options.

Choose from flat or folded cards, starting at just $.89 cents each, you can easily select a box of 10, 25, 50 of 100 to ensure that everyone on your list gets the perfect card from you for the holidays. A tip from me, order a few extra just in case! You never know who you will bond with over the next month, and there's always that long lost friend or relative that you get a card from. If you order a few extra, you won't have that moment of regret thinking "shoot! I don't have another one to send!"

The holiday layouts at Elephoto are gorgeous. Swirling text and snowflakes, fun plaids and stripes, traditional navy with a flourish.

Simply choose your layout, enter in your text and photo and voila! A custom holiday card, perfect for giving!

Can't you just picture the look on the grandparents face when they receive a beautiful card like the one above, with your sleeping Santa on the cover? Amazing!

What I love most about Elephoto, aside from being 100% Canadian, is that their printing material is FSC certified, meaning that their materials come from responsibly managed forests. So, your can give a gorgeous card to your family and friends, and know that it was made in a responsible way.

Coffee Bean Candle-pieces

Since we were in the process of selling our house, we had to keep our decoration very simple...but that didn't mean that it couldn't be chic!

This literally took me 5 minutes to make (including washing and drying a vase that I already had!) and zero dollars since I already had everything in the house.

What you'll need
  • vase or glass hurricane
  • candle
  • coffee beans

What to do

  • clean vase/glass container
  • dry it
  • pour in desired amount of coffee beans
  • place candle in centre of coffee beans
  • sink it down just a bit

Voila! Instant decor for your mantle, bathroom, kitchen, or even really great centrepieces for Christmas morning brunch!

What I love about them is the fresh smell of coffee every time I walk by. I have one in our master bath, one on our wine bar and two on our kitchen table. They've been there for about two weeks now, and they still smell like fresh coffee

For an added twist, use flavours coffee beans or a scented candle! As the coffee beans warm up, they give off a delicious aroma!

A time saver and a money saver! If you had to buy the supplies and start from scratch, here's my cost breakdown

Vase: $1 at dollarstore

Coffee beans: $4 for 1lb bag

Candle: 2 for $1 at dollarstore

Small vases: 2 for $1 at dollarstore

So, for a total of $7 you get 3 arrangements. Pretty awesome! And consider that you could take them as hostess gifts for any holiday parties that you're going to! Cost per gift $2.33! Fantastic!

Speical Post: Closetista Challenge by BailyBelle

A fellow mompreneur that I've met and chatted with rather frequently in the twitterverse told me about this crazy contest that she entered, and she recently made it to the final round!

What is Closestista? It's an online fashion television network, featuring up and coming designers like BailyBelle! It's amazing, and if you're a designer or lover of fashion and trends...their webisodes are a must see!

How can you help BailyBelle win this challenge?

By loving this and voting

Every tweet and/or RT from the designers page on Closetista counts for 2 points.
Every Facebook "like" from the designers page on Closetista counts for 10 points.
Every purchase from the designer you buy from counts for 1,000 votes!

Where can you vote?

It couldn't be simpler! Go to this page and click LIKE for fb, TWEET for twitter and then purchase the ring if you love it! There are only 6 limited edition teal batik rosette rings being made.

That's right...there are ONLY 6 that have been made...and once they're gone, they're gone! Err...there are only 5 left right now! (Merry Christmas to me!)

Voting it open NOW!! What are you waiting for!?

Whimsical Wednesday: Day7

7 days on the advent calendar are under our belt! I am so determined to make each and every day until Christmas extra special, both here at home and while we're on vacation.

I love that my advent calendar can collapse into a small pouch, and come with us on vacation. Since we're going to be away for a pretty good chunk of time, I want to make the most of it.

So, what's in store for today?

Day 7 - Build a Fort Inside

Much like the one that you see above, bedsheets...cushions from the couch and lots of toys!

The only difference is that we'll get to have a special lunch inside, stay in our pajamas and maybe even watch a movie all snuggled up under our favourite blankets.

What's in store for you today?

What's Next Wednesday: Advent Calendars!

It's still hard to believe that tomorrow is December 1st. Tomorrow people! Do you know what that means??

These bad boys can officially be put up, and have treats in them!

The pouches on the back of the numbers are perfect for tiny treats....little of the homemade kind! I will be filling ours with little slips of paper with activities that we can do while we {not-so} patiently wait for Santa.

Things like...

Bake Gingerbread Cookies

Have a Pajama Day

Watch a New Movie

Go See Happy Feet 2

And since we're off to Florida for Christmas...

Visit Shamu

Go to the Beach

Have Lunch at Frenchy's

Go Golfing with Daddy

What fun things will be in your advent calendar this year?

Tina Dean Designs...a giveaway!

Another anniversary celebration giveaway, and this one is sponsored by the wonderful Tina of Tina Dean Designs!

I first met Tina through The Artisan Group, and we have definitely become creative cohorts...brainstorming amazing clutch designs, talking about what keeps us inspired, emailing about parenting questions and triumphs.

I will admit that I didn't really understand what Tina's method was when I first heard of it. Plarn. What the who? But, it's seriously genius (recycled bags made into plastic-yarn aka: plarn) and it feels so good to carry and use something that is upcycled and repurposed.

You already know about the amazing black VHS tape clutch she's made me, she's made YOU something!

small TDD peppermint basket full of....

Sweet Stella's seasonal notestack, 8 holiday favour pouches, 2 tiny stacks and a paper paillette ornament!

Over $50 value!! Great for gift giving, or for keeping for yourself!

{ornament may be substituted for another colour or pattern}

Y3W Friday: Holiday Gift Guide

See that new fancy button over there to the side?? The one with the presents?? The one that looks like this??

Holiday Gift Guide

Well...the official Holiday Gift Guide from The Artisan Group has been pinned! In it, you'll find a crazy amount of holiday gift suggestions for every one on your list, be they young or old, from amazingly talented artisans.

Have you started your Christmas or holiday shopping yet? I did just the other day...a few stocking stuffers for my son. He'll only be 1 (and a half!) this year at Christmas, so I'm thinking bath toys, balls, things like that. I guess similar to last year, but a little more grown up. I also got some great little notebooks (Toy story themed) in the clearance bin at Michael's the other day, I figured that they'd be good with a box of crayons for when we travel.

What's on your Christmas list this year??

Don't forget to link up with Jenni!

What's Next Wednesday: Christmas!

Yes that's right!!

Halloween isn't even here yet and I'm already gearing up for Christmas!! I'm over-the-moon excited since I'll be participating in my first ever Christmas Bazaar this year, which is a benefit for the London Children's Hospital and London Humane Society (both organizations that are close to this mama's heart)

On my display will be vases of pinwheels in all different colours, masks beyond your wildest imagination, and tall vases with branches...and these lovelies hanging from them

Right now, my studio is pretty organized but I'm needing more space. I think we'll be setting things up a little differently in there, taking out the double bed and putting up a day bed so that I can use under-the-bed space for bins of masks, ornaments and pinwheels for the bazaar!

Need an ornament? They're up on my Etsy shop now! Two styles...plain painted ornaments, and ones with initials!

Want one ready-to-ship? These will be posted after the bazaar...if I don't sell out first!

Special Post; Deadlines!

Just a quick little announcement!

With the holiday season quickly approaching, please take note of the following deadlines:

Ordering for the holidays?
Halloween - order by September 27th
Christmas - order by December 1st
New Years - order by December 10th
