Fabulous Winter Fashion Finds on Pinterest

If you hop over to Pinterest and search Winter Fashion 2013, you will find a plethora of amazing and cozy looks. Most are centred in black and white, most with jean and sweaters, so when I saw this look, I knew that I had to share it here on the blog.

While the look need a pop of color {in my opinion}, I love that it is a little different than the other winter looks out there.

The cloche hat and jacket are beautiful, and when paired with the all black look on the bottom, the jacket makes quite the statement.

The only thing about the look that I would change would be the bag. This is where I would add a pop of color. Something like...

Just because it's winter doesn't mean that you can't have a really amazing pop of color!

Tina Dean Designs Gets Trendy with Black and White Designs!

For the past few months, I have been absolutely in love with the black and white trend {particularly with tribal prints}. It's just so absolutely striking, and yet so simple.

Tina Dean Designs has created a brand new collection of black and white handbags, all made from eco-friendly plarn {upcycled plastic yarn} and lined with fabulous contrasting cotton fabrics. They are unique and definitely will become a statement piece in your wardrobe.

What I love most about these new handbags by Tina Dean Designs is that they can easily go from day to night. The small handbags are perfect for brunch with the girls, paired with an airy sun dress, but can definitely get glammed up with a black romper, bold metallic jewelry and some funky peep toe wedges.

The totes are perfect for taking to your local farmers market on a lazy sunday afternoon with your family, then can double as a beach bag to house your Kinlde {Kobo or Nook}, sunscreen and bottles of water. For evening, a great bag for local festivals and concerts!

Be on trend this fall with the Black and White collection by Tina Dean Designs!

Tina Dean Designs, NEW Coral inspired handbags!

I am absolutely in love with the new line of small handbags from Tina Dean Designs, inspired by coral formations in the ocean.

Aren't they stunning?? They feature a chain shoulder strap, which keeps them on trend with the awesome metallic accents that are so popular right now.

I love the shoulder strap, and I'm usually a clutch girl. It's the perfect accessory for summer! Think of the statement you will make at all of those weddings you have to attend! The handbags come in a wide variety of Pantone colors, shown above in the first photo. My favourite? Koi! The bold orange is such an awesome statement color!

Fashionista Friday: Beach Bags by Tina Dean Designs

Yes...I'm dreaming of days at the beach this week. Baby Shmizz and I are so fortunate to have Tina Dean Designs working on some amazing handbags for us for BlogHer13 this year, and I am really excited about my custom unlined tote bag, with braided rope like handles.

I had a very abstract idea when I talked to Tina about needing a tote bag that I could toss my stuff in, but also use for trips to the beach, for my art supplies and quick shopping trips to the grocery store.

As always, she didn't disappoint and took my abstract vision to the next level. Tina knows that I have a special place in my heart for all things nautical, and wanted to be sure to incorporate that into my tote bag. The handles with the knots are perfect and I absolutely love how she created them {yes....she made the handles from scratch!}

I am really excited about this bag for BlogHer13 and cannot wait to show it off in person! An ecofriendly handbag for every day!

Disclaimer: I received this tote bag as compensation for helping promoted Tina Dean Designs' wonderful line of upcycled and ecofriendly handbags. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

Taking a note out of the Pantone 2013 Spring Fashion Trend book, and incorporating some of the hottest colors of the season into her designs, Tina Dean Designs is getting you on trend this season with fashionable ecochic accessories.

Poppy Red
African Violet
Tender Shoots

All colors that breathe life into your accessories arsenal, and ones that you won't want to miss out on.

The Poppy Red clutch features three black clay buttons that have a subtle gold fleck to them. Perfect for party hopping, a date night out, or just to add a splash of one of the prettiest tones of Spring 2013 into your wardrobe.

These handbags are like no other - expertly handmade by textile artist Tina Allen in her home studio. The Tender Shoots clutch features two hand painted sculpted clay buttons {by yours truly}, making each one completely different from the next!

Using delicate African violet purple bags, Tina created this clutch by upcycling plastic bags into a material known as plarn. Once it was crocheted into the perfect form, she finished off the closure with a hand painted violet and plum button. Absolutely beautiful, and it would look stunning at Easter brunch!

BlogHer Sponsor Love

Another set of amazing sponsors that helped pave my way to NYC and BlogHer12...in an oh-so-stylish way!

When I first talked to Tina about my needs for BlogHer, all I mentioned was a messenger bag to use on the plane and during the day sessions. Little did I know that she would whip up some amazing fused work, and a sparkly VHS wristlet that looked amazing and eco-chic.  I am so proud to have carried these pieces, and we're already conspiring for Chicago!

Working with Amber on my accessories was like a dream. She took inspiration from who I am as an artist, my life story, and my fashion tastes and created some truly one of a kind designs. While each piece holds special meaning and I love in its own unique way, I truly truly love the Let It Be pendant with ruby gemstone. She created this piece custom for me, one side dedicated to my father {Let It Be was his favourite song, and is my memorial tattoo to him} and the other side to my husband {paisley pattern...he loves him some paisley ties!}. I cannot thank Amber enough for her inspired designs, that I am wearing over and over and over again!

I am so pleased to be the first to blog about a new product hitting the shelves at Tina Dean Designs!

Tina is hitting the nail on the head with these designs. She combines colour blocking with an eco-chic fold over clutch design, and is even dabbling in adding texture, stripes and vintage fabric!

I'm so excited with this direction that Tina is taking her work, and have been privy to some new colours and designs including ruffles, bows, dripped texture. Truly unique and artistic, yet functional all at the same time!

The eco-fused line is the perfect compliment to your snazzy dress for a girls night out, date with that special someone or even with a lovely summer dress for a brunch with the girls!

Catching up with Tina from Tina Dean Designs this month...man oh man has she ever been the busy bee!

She's been styling some amazing photo shoots with er incredible photographer, Karen, and is even undergoing a redesign and new launch in the next little while. I've been privy to some sneak peeks, and they are gorgeous! Stay tuned for those updates!

What has been amazing me lately is the custom designs that Tina is creating for some amazing eco-chic celebrities.

Eco-tote created for Tenley Molzahn

Such an awesome bag! Tina has such impeccable attention to detail. For Tenley's bag, she matched the polka dot lining to the ribbon, and added in a funky bamboo handle. Then, there's a slight green fleck in the bag to carry that element through for a cohesive design.

Absolutely amazing!

BlogHer Love: Tina Dean Designs....custom creations!

We’ve all done it; dreamed of the perfect handbag to hold exactly what we need to go shopping at the market, out with the girls for brunch, a full day out with the kiddos….everything that you need in one stylish bag.

It’s a dream, absolutely, and it’s the perfect situation to go to Tina Dean Designs for a custom creation.

The process of working with Tina on a custom creation couldn’t be easier, and I should know! Right now, she’s finishing up my messenger bag for BlogHer…a custom design that she created just for me! It’ll be based on her peppermint tote bag {below, and also custom designed for Lauren Conrad!} but in a messenger style with an adjustable strap and flap closure. The lining…a chevron to match my logo and branding!

And it’s pretty awesome to work with a down-to-earth designer who has made custom bags for Lauren Conrad, Cari Cucksey, Tess Masters, and Zooey Deschanel.

So much intricate detail and time goes into each one of Tina’s bags, and each piece is made with precision. Tina has recently been working on more custom pieces and has many more designs that will be making their way to some Hollywood A-listers. Pretty incredible!

Get your hands on a custom Tina Dean Designs bag before it’s too late!

You’ve heard me talk about Tina Dean Designs since just before Christmas and how the lovely Tina is making my clutch and messenger bag for BlogHer’12.

Well, I am so excited to unveil the pictures to you of the photo shoot that I did for her with Hanlon Lain Photography

The Eco-Evening Wristlet Clutch is the perfect bag for a night out on the town with the girls, and where better to show it off than in NYC?! It features a super soft exterior that is made from repurposed VHS tape, which is made into plarn, and yarn. It is crocheted expertly with extraordinary workmanship, and I love that it has an antique looking chain attached, to make sure that it stays on my wrist at all times.

I love it because it is the perfect size to hold only the things that I need while on a night out: lip gloss and chapstick, my Blackberry, debit card, hotel key and ID. What more do you need when you’re spending an evening with your friends, having a few drinks on a rooftop patio, then hitting the town to go dancing?

I absolutely love the pop of colour that Tina worked into the lining.

My wristlet is lined with a beautiful batik fabric, featuring swirls of colour. It perfectly reflects me as an artist and my funky personal style.

What I love even more is that Tina took the time and care to make it personally for me, specifically for BlogHer. I am so excited to show it off…only a few months to go!

Special Post: Stella McCartney and Matches Fashion

As spring starts to poke its lovely face through the barely snow covered grounds, I find myself in need of a wardrobe change. Each season, I try to get a few key pieces that I know I can wear with jeans as well as dress pants, pencil skirts and things of the sort of get the most out of some really inspired, quality designs.

Today, I am finding that in the Stella McCartney collection at Matches Fashion. The bold pops of yellow and blue are paired perfectly with white, grey and black – just absolutely stunning and perfect for spring!

A few favourites that I would like to point your ever keen eye to…

I was immediately drawn to the Michelle jacket. The amazing pop of yellow was just stunning to see, and I could definitely see it paired with a simple white tee, grey skinny jeans and a pair of grey or nude pumps. Perfect for a luncheon out with the girls, or for an after business event. So unexpected, and yet so perfect!

The Stella McCartney collection at Matches Fashion isn’t all about punches of colour on clothing. Don’t underestimate the impact that an accessory can have in your wardrobe! Sometimes, all you need is the perfect handbag or pair of shoes to update for the season ahead!

I personally am in love with the Falabella bucket bag. First and foremost, it is orange and considering that I already have a lot of dark denim and cream tops, it would go perfectly with a lot of what I already have. I look at it as a wise investment for a piece that I will love for many years to come. It’s simply stunning, and roomy too! It would be perfect for a day shopping, as a travel carryon...really, it is perfect for everyday!

Within the Stella McCartney collection, you’ll find whimsical pieces that catch your eye more than once. I’ve looked at the same pieces (for example, the Gwen dress) over and over, and see a captivating new beauty every time I look at it.

The collection is simply breathtaking!

Sponsor Love: Wedding Accessories by Jacques Vert

Which wedding accessories do you choose for your wedding?

If you are planning to attend a wedding or perhaps you are getting married yourself, it isn’t always easy to find perfect wedding outfits because of the wide range of choice. On top of that are the accessories that are of importance as well. If you are unsure of which accessories to wear with your wedding outfit or when going to a formal lunch event, then it might be worthwhile for you to read this post. I have lined up some accessories that I believe would make a great addition to any occasion wear outfit.

Jewellery

When deciding upon what type of jewellery to choose, I’d recommend opting for less chunky jewellery such as this elegant fine black enamel and marcasite effect pendant necklace. The necklace is set on a silver colour chai with little ball beads and would look great with any wedding outfit.

Fascinators

For those who have never heard of this term, a fascinator is a fashionable headpiece that is often worn on special occasions. Fascinators come in various styles and are created by colourful feathers, flowers and other sorts of fabrics.

Often, these fascinators can be worn in two different ways. There are fascinators with combs attached to them which you have to stick in your hair in the opposite direction, ensuring the hairs are woven between the teeth of the comb. The other, more common, form is the headband fascinator which can simply be placed on top of the hair.

Purses

Finding the right purse to go with your outfit can often be a tricky task because you have to ensure that all your belongings fit in the bag (and we’ve got many things we put in our purses) whilst at the same time making sure that the colour is right.

This purse is an elegant fondant pink fabric clutch styled bag, with a curving flat to the front and satin draped twist detail to finish. You can combine this purse with a crème or black dress, or a similar colours dress.
