2" lilac sprig brooch
They make amazing corsages for weddings - no allergy concerns and they can double as gifts for mothers and grandmothers, helping with your overall budget

2" blue rosette brooch
Have your wedding flowers already picked out? I can match the style and colour to make sure that the sculpted pieces flow seamlessly with your real flowers!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: A Bit of Edge

Taking things up a notch this week...and for the next few weeks actually.

While I am still staying true to my roots with sculpting and being girly, I am bringing a bit of edge to some of my designs. Specifically, ones that are leaving my studio and are on their way to some amazing style icons in Hollywood.

Take the oversized pansy for example...and turn it silver.

Incredible!

It's so awesome to take someone fantastically edgy like Kim Kardashian, and morph an oversized pansy ring to suit her style. A silver pansy with white stamen, on a silver ring. Simple? Absolutely! Stunning? You betcha!

I really really hope that she loves it, and if you love it...let me know! I've already had one order, and will happily create this ring over and over. It's just so much fun to make, and the silver clay takes on a sparkly and swirly property during the firing process.

Love it? Let me know!

Celeb{rate} Tuesday: The Graceful Ballerina

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

A few months ago, I started following Tenley Molzahn on Twitter and Facebook. I had admired her spirit way back when she was on The Bachelor, and was thrilled when she and Kiptyn declared their love for one another {and are happily still going strong}

She just exudes happiness and joy. She's stunning, to say the least, an i am so happy to have created a one of a kind oversized statement ring for her.

A beautiful white pansy with a plum coloured stamen and dark green tendrils. I sketched it out and just knew that it needed to find a home in Tenley's collection.

The creativity flowed into a beautiful reporter style journal with a beachy feel, and an antique skeleton key.

Hopefully she likes them!

What do you think?

SWH4T$: Spice Rubs

Welcome back to SWH4T$!

Shizz and I have been chatting recently, and while we love sharing our time management and money saving tips and tricks, we're thinking of changing the format slightly.

We're still going to share our tips and tricks, crafty DIY's and recipes, but we're going to do away with the linky tool at the end. Sadly, it doesn't seem that many are hopping along with us, though many of you are enjoying our posts and we're enjoying sharing them with you all.

DIY Spice Rubs

My Hubster's birthday was a week ago, and I was wracking my brain as to what to get for him. He's one of those guy-who-has-everything type guys.

Then it dawned on me.

He's also the guy-who-loves-to-bbq guy!!

So...I created six spice rubs and packaged them in spice jars from the dollarstore.

What you'll need:
  • spices (garlic, oregano, onion, lemon pepper, pepper, coarse salt, cayenne pepper, paprika, Hungarian paprika, cocoa powder, finely ground coffee, onion flakes)
  • jars from the dollarstore
  • tags or labels

Using these recipes (which you can download for free!), I created six different spice rubs

Pick-Me-Up is a cocoa and coffee steak rub

Greek Me is a lemon-pepper based rub inspired from our honeymoon in Greece

Spicy Mama Szem is a spicy Hungarian paprika rub

Hot Tamale is just that...hot hot hot!

Wild Onion is sort of salty, be absolutely delicious and full of onion flakes

Mr. Mustard is a medium spiced mustard based rub

Hubs was REALLY impressed and they literally took maybe 20 minutes to put them all together!

Enjoy!

Talk-To-Me Tuesday: Celeb{rate}

I've had the amazing opportunity to connect with some incredible people lately...people in high places.

Well...in shiny, sparkly places...and people who appreciate handmade.

Over the next few weeks, I invite you to Celeb{rate} with me on Tuesday's! I'll show you who I'm sending some work to, and the amazing pieces that they'll receive....you can shout it from the rooftops with me...jump on a table and dance...fist-pump...the whole thing!

In March, I had the opportunity to create two gorgeous pieces for one gorgeous women that I really admire and find incredibly inspiring.

First and foremost, isn't she gorgeous?

I am so proud to say that I have painted Lauren a journal, with an antique skeleton key embellishment. The journal itself was inspired by ballet, and her clothing collection. All very flowy, fluid lines and with lots of ribbon detail. Absolutely love it!

Then, I sculpted her a double pansy hair clip on a vintage alligator clip. It's a little heavy, so will have to be worn pointing downwards so it stays put. I just love the white and plum together. So pretty, especially with her California blonde and tan!

Stay tuned on Tuesdays as I reveal more gifts to Celeb{rate}!

Talk-To-Me Tuesday: Vistaprint Calendars

Valentine ’s Day gift ideas! Get your other half something they’ll love.

Valentine’s Day is the day of the year all couples look forward to. A romantic dinner is almost compulsory, as is the exchange of heartfelt gifts. But what gift should you give? Flowers? Too cliché. Chocolates? Even more so! Balancing originality with sentimentality is a tricky task, but hopefully some of these suggestions will help:

Chocolate flowers:

Cliché plus cliché it seems, somehow equals a quirky and original gift. Handmade chocolate from a local chocolatier presented in an unusual shape (something romantic, preferably!) will be well received by even the most reluctant partner.

Personalised calendar:

This may sound like a strange suggestion, but a personalised calendar with photographs from special days you and your partner have shared combines sentimentality with practicality. This gift will keep on giving, as well, as it will be seen on a daily basis by you and your partner. Important occasions like birthdays, Valentine’s Day, and (you guessed it) anniversaries can also be included on the calendar.

A weekend retreat:

Sometimes escaping the hustle and bustle of life with your partner is exactly what the doctor ordered. With the costs of travel falling, a weekend away around Valentine’s Day can be the perfect gift. Why not consider something unusual like a white water rafting weekend, or a wine-tasting weekend spent at a vineyard?

Even with gifts, it’s important to remember that the main purpose of Valentine’s Day is to show your partner what they mean to you, so don’t worry too much if you can’t find the perfect gift! A heartfelt hug will send the message just as well :)

Coffee Bean Candle-pieces

Since we were in the process of selling our house, we had to keep our decoration very simple...but that didn't mean that it couldn't be chic!

This literally took me 5 minutes to make (including washing and drying a vase that I already had!) and zero dollars since I already had everything in the house.

What you'll need
  • vase or glass hurricane
  • candle
  • coffee beans

What to do

  • clean vase/glass container
  • dry it
  • pour in desired amount of coffee beans
  • place candle in centre of coffee beans
  • sink it down just a bit

Voila! Instant decor for your mantle, bathroom, kitchen, or even really great centrepieces for Christmas morning brunch!

What I love about them is the fresh smell of coffee every time I walk by. I have one in our master bath, one on our wine bar and two on our kitchen table. They've been there for about two weeks now, and they still smell like fresh coffee

.

For an added twist, use flavours coffee beans or a scented candle! As the coffee beans warm up, they give off a delicious aroma!

A time saver and a money saver! If you had to buy the supplies and start from scratch, here's my cost breakdown

Vase: $1 at dollarstore

Coffee beans: $4 for 1lb bag

Candle: 2 for $1 at dollarstore

Small vases: 2 for $1 at dollarstore

So, for a total of $7 you get 3 arrangements. Pretty awesome! And consider that you could take them as hostess gifts for any holiday parties that you're going to! Cost per gift $2.33! Fantastic!

Holiday Baking

Have a teacher, garbage man, mail delivery person, post office worker, member of your church family or some other person on your list this Holiday season? I know that I do, and that list keeps growing by the day when I think of all of the wonderful people in our lives!

So! This year...into the kitchen I go with my beautiful standmixer that is likely exhausted at this point. However, this batch of particularly yummy cookies yeild about 75 cookies...

Translate that into 10 cookies per cello bag, tied with a lovely tag (that you can make at home to save even more money! I had this one lying around our Christmas wrapping paper stock) and you've got gifts for 7 people, plus 5 cookies left for you to snack on!

And what's even better, you likely have all of these ingredients (minus the molasses...let's be serious, who has molasses in the house!? But...it's only $4 at Walmart!) in your kitchen already!

Ginger Molasses Cookies

Preheat over to 350F

Mix in your standmixer bowl
  • 4 1/2
    cups all-purpose flour
  • 4
    teaspoons ground ginger
  • 2
    teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2
    teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4
    teaspoon salt

Cream in

  • 1 1/2
    cups butter
  • 2
    cups granulated sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/2
    cup molasses

Roll cookies into 1" balls, and roll them in a bowl of

  • 3/4
cup coarse sugar or granulated sugar

Place on a cookie sheet, and bake for 13-14 minutes. You'll know that they're finished by when the tops crack! Be careful not to overbake though!

I then took a bunch of the cookies, put them in a cello bag (you can get these at Michael's for about $2.50 for 12 bags. I get mine from Nashville Wraps in bulk, so I had them on hand already) and tie with a lovely tag!

Total cost on these babies...$6.50. Cost per gift...$0.92!

Beautiful, thoughtful, cost-efficient, and yummy!

Homemade Scrubs
It's almost that time of year...

The air turns cold and takes your breath away...carolers will soon be out on the streets...and jolly old St. Nicholas will be bombarded by letters from little ones.

That also means gift giving as well, and I don't know about you...but homemade and handmade gifts from the heart go a very long way!

The other day, I made these for my mom as a part of her birthday gift. A yummy and glorious Brown Sugar Honey Oat Body Scrub, and a super fresh Peppermint Foot Scrub.

I finished them both with beautiful ribbon, and cardstock tags.

Here are the recipes and how-to's!

Find a jar that you have around the house...salsa, jam, jelly...whatever you have! Clean it thoroughly and dry it completely.

Combine in a bowl (I actually did it right in the jar)

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp. honey (a natural preservative)
  • 1 cup oil (I used canola since it is nonsmelling and that's what I had on hand)

Transfer into your jar, and twist the lid on tightly!

Finish off with a ribbon and your tags, and viola! A yummy body scrub that can double as a delicious dessert topping!

For this one, I found that after I cleaned my salsa jar there was some residue on the outside from the previous label. So...I made my own and podged it onto the outside of the jar! I also covered the lid with scrapbooking paper and podge!

In a bowl combine (and I actually did this one in a bowl)

  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp oil (again, I used canola)
  • peppermint extract (for this, I just did it by smell...so maybe a tsp.)
  • 6 drops green food colouring

When it's all mixed and lovely, transfer into your jar, making sure to put the lid on tightly. Tie with ribbon and your tag!

Are you making anything for the holidays, or a special birthday, this year? Share your tips and tricks for saving time and money!

Y3W Friday: Holiday Gift Guide

See that new fancy button over there to the side?? The one with the presents?? The one that looks like this??

Holiday Gift Guide

Well...the official Holiday Gift Guide from The Artisan Group has been pinned! In it, you'll find a crazy amount of holiday gift suggestions for every one on your list, be they young or old, from amazingly talented artisans.

Have you started your Christmas or holiday shopping yet? I did just the other day...a few stocking stuffers for my son. He'll only be 1 (and a half!) this year at Christmas, so I'm thinking bath toys, balls, things like that. I guess similar to last year, but a little more grown up. I also got some great little notebooks (Toy story themed) in the clearance bin at Michael's the other day, I figured that they'd be good with a box of crayons for when we travel.

What's on your Christmas list this year??

Don't forget to link up with Jenni!

Special Post: Let the Emmy's....Begin!

Today marked the kick off of the GBK Productions Gifting Suite for the 63rd Primetime Emmy Award, and did it ever go off with a bang!

Valerie, the founder of The Artisan Group, was awesome about keeping us updated about who was coming through the doors and over to our display...

First was Lorraine Braco...you know...from The Sopranos!!

As the event went on they saw castmembers from Modern Family, Glee, Good Luck Chuck and...the moment where I thought I was either going to vomit or pee-my-pants from excitement, Jeff Probst.

Like....Survivor. As in...drop-your-buffs-you're merging Jeff Probst!

Apparently, he chatted with the ladies for TWENTY MINUTES and raved about TAG and how much he loved what we were doing. Amazing! Purely amazing!

I cannot wait to see who posed with this...

Fingers crossed for some Modern Family, LOST or Mad Men love!!
