Visiting the Linen Chest

There's a new store in town, and after a little coaxing from my mother-in-law, I loaded up the toddler and headed out to see what the buzz was all about. Boy was I ever impressed...and holy moly did I want to curl up in one of their gorgeous beds for a nap!

The Linen Chest {located at Southdale/Wonderland in London, Ontario...as well as 20+ other locations across Canada} is simply one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever stepped foot in. From the gorgeous registry station, surrounded by beautiful table settings and china, to the large selection of luxurious bedding...oh and the wall of cushions!! Everything is colour coordinated {which makes my artist heart happy!} and stunning.

Immediately, I was greeted by the friendliest of staff, who genuinely were interested in why I was there {hostess gifts...and for a blog feature on my home decor blog - it was great to see their enthusiasm} and helped guide me through the various rooms of their store. It's set up just brilliantly; each room is featured and shown in the most beautiful way to capture your dream home.

I was thrilled by the beautiful selection of furniture and coordinated cushions - something I've been yearning for in my home studio for a design-corner...where I can sit with a sketch book and draw up gorgeous and whimsical designs for my shop. The Nassau chair is so incredibly pretty...I literally squealed and gasped when I saw it. The ruffled cushion sets it off perfectly, and it's just dreamy!

With the slogan of "because it feels good to be home", I couldn't agree more. The Linen Chest truly feels like home in every nook and cranny, and what an amazing feeling that is!

*disclaimer: I was not compensated in any way for this post; I just really love the store and spaces they have created, and wanted to share the beauty with you!

TPH Canada...my printing savior

So last thursday, late in the evening, I sat up on the couch and gasped.

I forgot my email address and twitter handle on my BlogHer media cards.

Who does that?!

Certainly not someone who claims to be overly organized, have her ducks in a row and be so on top of everything that it's not funny.

But only...it did happen. And yes, I did freak out

Cover Art...before
After crying for a little while, and my sweet husband trying to reassure me that no matter the cost, we would get the proper cards printed, I went off to email TPH Canada and see about replacement cards and what that cost would be.

I woke up the next morning the the sweetest and most reassuring email from Cynthia - saying not to worry, that it happens, just to get them the artwork and they would have the card printed asap.

Their kindness {oh queue the water works again!! That's how much I love them!} and reassurance is exactly why I love working with them. They are incredible, and I will be working with them for an extremely long time.

Thank you, TPH! You deserve a medal!

BlogHer Sponsor Love: TPH Canada

When looking for a printing company to collaborate with on my business and media cards for BlogHer, what really stood out to me about TPH Canada was how enviromentally responsible they are.

Since their founding in 1961, they have continually been searching for recycling programs, putting sustainability as a top priority and offering eco-friendly printing and paper solutions to their customers. Knowing that my cards were printed with heart...that's pretty amazing!

Today is one of those I'm-so-excited-I-can-hardly-stand-myself kind of days. You know...the ones where you are just jumping for joy and singing the praises of someone so amazingly wonderful that you definitely cannot contain yourself!

Today, I get to share with you a little peek at my media cards that I designed for BlogHer'12 in NYC (omg...this time next month, the conference will be over! ack!)

Gorgeous overload, right??

I wanted my cards to really represent my art. Painted journals, sculpted headbands, paintings, sculpted wearable art...all there on the cover, and modeled by my lovely little woodland fairy, Kassidy.

TPH Canada did an amazing job at printing. Honestly, working with them was just the best experience I could have asked for. Cynthia and Brittany were never more than an email or tweet away if I had a question.....and here's the best part.

I sent me artwork to them late Friday...the cards were in my hands on TUESDAY. Sha-mazing!

For the back, I decided to write a little bit about who I am, why I do what I do, some of my accomplishments, and a little sample of what you will find here in my artsy nook of the blogosphere.

Along with all of my amazing sponsor logos, and a QR code that will bring you right here!

I seriously couldn't be happier with them, or with my choice of printer!

BlogHer Sponsor Love: EKSIT Strategies

The first step.

Many entrepreneurs get to the point in their business where they start thinking about what might come next. While most business owners are comfortable thinking about these things in the abstract, actually engaging in the process can be an extremely emotional step to take, and is often one that seems incredibly daunting.

EKSIT Strategies has developed a process specifically designed to make navigating those waters less intimidating.

The First Step is a two component based system that takes you through everything from identifying shareholder goals and expectations, to growth opportunity analysis and contingency planning. The sessions are led by an EKSIT Advisor who works with you to identify your key goals and opportunities for the future.

What's even better about The First Step is that it has a fixed price. Many business consultants will tell you that they cannot give you even an estimate, let alone a fixed price, to help you work through the process of figuring out where to take your business. EKSIT Strategies has broken down those barriers and offers real solutions for an intensive program that is tailored to your needs.

What's your future? What's your EKSIT?

BlogHer Sponsor Love: EKSIT Strategies...Mompreneur Tips

When talking with Colin and Trevor from EKSIT Strategies about mompreneurs {and entrepreneurs} who are just starting out, their number one tip was

Know what you know, and know what you don't know

I couldn't agree more, and thought that it was a really great topic for their sponsor post this month. I am a firm believer in excelling in a few, rather than being mediocre at alot, and Colin spoke volumes to that.

He said that there are alot of specialists out there, like those who specialize in legal services, tax strategies and things like that, and alot of new businesses could find themselves in tough spots if they haven't gotten the proper advice from those people; thereby admitting what it is that they don't know, which for women in general {sorry to say...} is difficult.

When I think about what it is that I know as a mompreneur, I know how to structure my time wisely, how to create some gorgeous pieces of art and how to network throughout the proper social media channels to engage with other bloggers and like minded individuals.

What I don't know is how to stay on top of my Quickbooks, how to increase my sales naturally, or how to get the most bang for my advertising buck.

I know that I know, and I know what I don't know...it's the perfect time to implement a business strategy with the guys at EKSIT Strategies.

BlogHer Sponsor Love: Hanlon Lain Photography...getting messy!

Last month, I had the great pleasure of working with my BlogHer sponsor Hanlon Lain Photography  on a fantastic photo shoot.

I had a vision of me in one of her fields with my canvases, paint and easel…just being me and being inspired by the space around me.

The messier part of the vision was that I would end up covered in paint….head to toe {not hair to toe…} in paint. My feet were an absolute mess by the end of the shoot since I was literally standing in the drippings off the paintings and my easel, and my hands were blue by the time everything dried and I got home {and I still had to go to the grocery store!}

I would never in a million years have thought to capture what Laina did. Her use of angles, the way she captures the light that no one else can see, and the way she caught my expression was incredible. I was able to just paint, do my thing and have her capture who I am as a true artist.

The entire experience was amazing. It made this whole artist thing seem...real. Like this is what I was meant to do and who I was meant to be. What an amazing feeling!

I am absolutely thrilled to feature one of her photos on the bio-side of my media cards that will be passed out at BlogHer this year!
