Rebranding Recap

Over the past year, I've rebranded this little space of the internet that I call Sweet Stella's. I am so happy to finally have found a designer that totally gets my vision, and a printer who gets super excited when I send them new designs.

This time last year, my branding was along this vein

Pretty but to be honest, I wasn't really sure it was reflective of me, my design style or where I was going in my career.

My branding this year?

I wanted to make sure that my branding materials matched my space here on the blog. I wanted to make sure that my face and unique style were featured, and that people could see into my art studio. I wanted to make sure that my authentic voice was shining through.

A huge huge thank you to my designer, Tiffany Kuehl, and my printer, The Printing House, for supporting this dream of mine.

While there will be seasonal changes, I am so happy to say that I finally have found a chic and professional look that reflects who I am and where I am in my career.

Rebranding with TPH Canada

So you have a brand. You have your social media in place, your business cards, promo materials and flyers out in the world and they seem to be getting noticed.

Clients are happy with your work, and you are happy with your client base.

So when do you know when it is time to rebrand?

For me, rebranding takes place as the seasons and trends change. Since I am a home decor, lifestyle and trend blogger it makes sense that my blog is reflective of current trends. One of the hottest right now? Chevron. Some of the loveliest color trends? Mint and coral. Pantone color of the year? Emerald.

As the trends change, my blog design will change and evolve.

The typical business rebrands on average once a year. It may be a font change, color change or a complete overhaul of your marketing materials. The awesome thing is that TPH Canada has a plethora of amazing options for when you undergo a rebranding.

As a company with a rich 52 year history in Canada, TPH knows a thing or two about rebranding and has set the stage with unique marketing tools to help you get the most out of the process. From door hangers to point-of-sale displays, rounded corners on your business cards and their impeccable attention to detail, they are able to help set you apart from the competition.

They are also incredibly supportive, which is rare in today's fast paced age. They take their time with their clients, help guide them through the process, and genuinely care about the outcome. Whether you are looking for colors that pop on your business cards with a UV coating {I can personally highly recommend this!} or a custom cut piece of promotional material, TPH can help you make your brand #notsooldschool.

The Finishing Touches; Making your marketing materials pop!

With just a week and a half to BlogHer'13, I wanted to talk about the finishing touches that TPH Canada has helped me with for the conference; my marketing materials.

Your marketing materials, no matter what printed format you choose, say a lot about you as a person and you as a business. Yes, blogging is a business. Do you show who you truly are, or just give out the contact information and hope that is enough?

When I talked to the lovely Britt at TPH, we both agreed on one thing: these promotional cards needed to be amazing.

And they are

They are completely reflective of the blog, and of me as an artist. They have beautiful photos a consistent message and they arrived within just TWO DAYS of placing my official order with The Printing House.

What I love most is that when I showed the layouts to my team at TPH, they gave me glowing feedback. When you see "these look so awesome!" from our printer, you know you've done a great job, and have really captured the essence of who you are on a printed card.

I cannot wait to hand these out at the conference!!

What do your business cards, flyers, and postcards say about who you are as the face of your brand?

Disclaimer: The Printing House has provided me with business cards and postcards, in return for blogging about their products and services. All views and opinions expressed are my own.

Eco-Friendly Print Materials from TPH Canada

One element that was really important to me in looking for a printer for my business cards and promotional business materials was working with a company who appreciates our fragile environment.

TPH Canada is a tri-certified printer with a team of specialists who work with you to ensure that your business needs for printing are met with the highest quality of standards, while being responsible about the environment.

So, what does being environmentally responsible mean? It means that you're working with a company who cares about their recycling program, from toners to papers, and a company that care about replanting trees and harvesting from sustainable forests.

When you work with TPH Canada you can be sure that you are working with a company who genuinely cares about the environmental impact they are having on the world around them.

Disclaimer: I am not monetarily compensated by TPH Canada for posting about their company and products on my blog. I do receive my business cards and promotional materials in lieu of compensation.

Be Memorable with your Marketing Materials

In this months branding exercise, I wanted to talk about being memorable with your marketing material.

TPH Canada has amazing options to ensure that you leave the right impression when you hand over your precious printed marketing materials.

Last summer when I was going to BlogHer in New York City, I wanted to have postcard sized promo cards with a bio on the back, photos of my work and a photo of myself so that when I reached out to bloggers and companies that I had met, they remembered who I was.

Think about what the recipient of your card will see first. For mine, it was the beautiful and intense colors and I received so many amazing compliments about how the colors seemed to jump off the postcard, and make my marketing materials memorable.

It also helps to have a professional photographer working with you on your headshots so that you are presenting your best self. Sure, we can get some great photos with our iPhones and a good timer on our cameras, but only a professional photographer knows the most flattering angles and lighting to ensure that you are presenting your best visual self.

Dress the part! Are you a mom blogger? Crafter? Travel blogger? Get your hair done, spruce up your makeup and have an eyecatching photo of yourself on your card. So many people at BlogHer thought the photo of me standing in a field, covered in paint, was such a true representation of who I am - a messy artist.
Once all of these elements came together and were printed, I was amazed how it all looked. TPH Canada did a phenomenal job at making all of the elements that make me a blogger and artist some together under one brand, on a very beautiful and memorable card.

Think outside the box. What makes you different? How can TPH Canada show off who you are as a person and writer?

Maybe it is a folded business card with a photo and bio on the inside. Perhaps a trifold brochure with social media stats would fit the bill when it comes to networking with companies. Or maybe even a video card that showcases one of your awesome DIY tutorials or vlogs, reserved for only the companies and bloggers that you really, truly want to work with in the near future.

Branding with TPH Canada - Digital Quality Printing

Want to stand out from the pack and have your branding pack a punch? Then you need digital printing!

TPH Canada offers only the best digital printing, and personally I feel that it has taken my business to the next level. Previously, my promotional material was pixelated and mediocre. The quality just wasn't there, and if you're trying to present yourself as a professional in your field, that's just not going to cut it.

A big thing for me in my branding is colour. I want my artwork to speak for itself, and by using a printer that offers digital printing, I can ensure that my promotional materials have the same vivid colours as my actual artwork does.

TPH can handle print jobs of all size, whether you need a postcards for a conference that speak to your brand, or you need eye catching reports for a shareholders meeting, all with the same quality that digital printing offers.

It has made a huge difference in how my brand is viewed, and I would seriously encourage you to consider digital printing for your next set of business cards, reports, and promotional material!

The Mompreneur Conference: Recap 2

Two people that I was very excited to meet at The Mompreneur Conference and Gala were CJ and Brittany from TPH Canada.

These ladies are nothing short of witty and amazing. They conducted a dynamic presentation about branding and the #notsooldschool print media that they are able to offer. As small businesses, and bloggers, we have the ability to be fluid in our printing choices and think outside of the box when it comes to printed materials.

This is one of the things that I have always loved about TPH; I can email them with a crazy layout idea or wanting something fresh and new, and they always deliver {shipped within a couple of days!} exceptional quality.

It was fantastic to hear new ideas about video books, memorable ways to stand out, and about their sustainability program. As small business owners, making your marketing dollars stretch is something that is very important, which is why digital printing and small batches are great. Sure, everyone needs a business card, but does everyone really need 5000 brochures with information that is bound to change within a couple of weeks of being printed? No.

You need a way to stand out, something that is different and outside of the box. You need TPH Canada.

Branding with Business Cards

It's a new year, which means to some that you need a new look to freshen up your business and present yourself in the best possible light. Thankfully, I have a fantastic design team with my graphic designer, Tiffany Kuehl Designs, and my amazing printer, The Printing House!

After attending BlogHer last summer, I took a long hard look at my blog and the brand that I was starting to establish. Where did I want it to go? Did I want to work with some larger companies in my field? Was I ready to elevate my game?
Business Card front {before}
The answer to those questions was a resounding YES I wanted to work with larger companies {and thankfully have been able to!}, and I wanted to elevate my game as a professional home decor blogger. So why was a business card so important for me?

Well, it's the first impression of my brand that anyone will get when they meet me in person. Does it look the way I want my brand to look?

Previously, it was okay. It was professional, but pixelated, and could have been better. This is where you are better served leaving it to the professional graphic designers, like Tiffany Kuehl Designs. After she overhauled my blog in September, I asked her about a business card to match.

Business Card front {after}
After getting the design that reflected my blog and brand, I sent it of to The Printing House - even they loved the design! The printing options through TPH are fantastic - folded business cards, rounded corners, little cut outs to set you above the fold and make you stand out. Remember, you want your business cards to be unforgettable!
Business Card back {after}
We chose to put a UV coating on the cover of my cards, and I have received so many compliments on them. They are a thicker cardstock than what I've seen other companies use, and they're something I am proud to hand out, knowing that they accurately reflect my blog and brand!

Introducing my BlogHer'13 Team!

It seems like just yesterday that I was packing my bags and boarding the plane for New York City to attend BlogHer'12. In reality, it was just over two months ago and I have learned so very much from going to the largest international blogging conference out there.

I'm already lining up sponsors for BlogHer'13 in Chicago, and am so happy to announce that TPH Canada, Tina Dean Designs, Kristine Cook Designs and Amber Bryce Luxe Bohemian are back on board with me!

Kristine Cook Designs created three stunning outfits for me for BlogHer'12, and I am thrilled to get the chance to showcase Kristine's ready-to-wear line in Chicago. Having seen her design book over dinner a few weeks ago, I know that they will be pieces that will be flattering on every body type and make you feel like you want to get out of your pj's in the morning. Kristine's work is amazing and she pays particular attention to detail with ruffles, buttons and other feminine touches that make her work one of a kind and truly unique.

Working with Tina Dean Designs this past year has been a dream come true. Tina has been working hard to become an expert in textile design, and boy does it show!  I'm really excited to be able to showcase Tina's amazing eco-chic designs in Chicago, and she's even collaborating with Kristine to make sure that my look is coordinated head-to-toe; amazing, eh?! I see some fabulous fused clutches in my future, and you can bet your bottom dollar that my messenger bag will make a reprise as my carry-on and Expo Hall bag!
Remember those incredible media cards that TPH printed for me a few months ago? Remember how they were absolutely incredible to work with, offered eco-options and funky shapes of business cards? Well they're joining up with me for my media cards that I'll be handing out to brands and bloggers in Chicago! Their printing services are absolutely amazing; high quality, digital printing at its finest. I cannot wait to share more information about this fantastic brand with you in monthly features!

I felt every bit the belle of the ball at BlogHer with my sparkly earrings, bracelet and amazing long necklace from Amber Bryce Luxe Bohemian, so I was thrilled when Amber emailed me to express interest in styling my accessories for BlogHer'13. Amber's designs are truly inspired and she uses only the best raw materials, from recycled metals to big sparkly druzies. I cannot wait to share Amber's new work with you and talk about the inspiration behind her designs.

More sponsors will be announced as the month's unfold, but I just could not wait to share this news with you all!

BlogHer Sponor Love

A hugely massive shout out to those who helped me create the most beautiful media cards! I had so many compliments on them and I could not be happier with how they turned out!

The team at TPH Canada was incredible to work with. While tweeting with Brittany about their amazing brand, eco-friendly solutions and really just engaging with one another, to emailing with Cynthia and being incredibly thankful for her super-powers in reprinting after a silly mistake on my part - they are simply the most amazing printing company I have ever had the pleasure in working with. The results were beautiful, and I am so thankful for the compliments that we got on my cards both from brands and bloggers!

Without Lainie's expert eye in photography, the vision that I had for these cards would just not have come to life. In creating a woodland fairy nymph with our model Kassidy, we were able to style her with a fantastic Atutudes tutu, sculpted accessories, pointe shoes, paintings and journals to create a picture of true inspiration. The end result was beautiful and I am eternally grateful for having worked with Lainie on this project.

Lainie also photographed me doing what I do best: painting. I am so thankful for this experience as I've never been able to paint and have someone capture it on film before. It was amazing, to say the least, and the feedback that I got from brands when they saw me doing my thing was awesome!

See you in Chicago!

BlogHer Sponsors: Thank You!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to send out a huge thank you to all of the amazing sponsors who helped me board a plane today, put gorgeous media cards together for me, provided inspiration and photography, designed incredible outfits, jewelry and tutu's....

Without you all, BlogHer'12 would be but a dream for me. You helped make this possible!

TPH Canada...my printing savior

So last thursday, late in the evening, I sat up on the couch and gasped.

I forgot my email address and twitter handle on my BlogHer media cards.

Who does that?!

Certainly not someone who claims to be overly organized, have her ducks in a row and be so on top of everything that it's not funny.

But only...it did happen. And yes, I did freak out

Cover Art...before
After crying for a little while, and my sweet husband trying to reassure me that no matter the cost, we would get the proper cards printed, I went off to email TPH Canada and see about replacement cards and what that cost would be.

I woke up the next morning the the sweetest and most reassuring email from Cynthia - saying not to worry, that it happens, just to get them the artwork and they would have the card printed asap.
Cover art...after

Their kindness {oh queue the water works again!! That's how much I love them!} and reassurance is exactly why I love working with them. They are incredible, and I will be working with them for an extremely long time.

Thank you, TPH! You deserve a medal!

BlogHer Sponsor Love: TPH Canada

When looking for a printing company to collaborate with on my business and media cards for BlogHer, what really stood out to me about TPH Canada was how enviromentally responsible they are.

Since their founding in 1961, they have continually been searching for recycling programs, putting sustainability as a top priority and offering eco-friendly printing and paper solutions to their customers. Knowing that my cards were printed with heart...that's pretty amazing!

Today is one of those I'm-so-excited-I-can-hardly-stand-myself kind of days. You know...the ones where you are just jumping for joy and singing the praises of someone so amazingly wonderful that you definitely cannot contain yourself!

Today, I get to share with you a little peek at my media cards that I designed for BlogHer'12 in NYC (omg...this time next month, the conference will be over! ack!)

Gorgeous overload, right??

I wanted my cards to really represent my art. Painted journals, sculpted headbands, paintings, sculpted wearable art...all there on the cover, and modeled by my lovely little woodland fairy, Kassidy.

TPH Canada did an amazing job at printing. Honestly, working with them was just the best experience I could have asked for. Cynthia and Brittany were never more than an email or tweet away if I had a question.....and here's the best part.

I sent me artwork to them late Friday...the cards were in my hands on TUESDAY. Sha-mazing!

For the back, I decided to write a little bit about who I am, why I do what I do, some of my accomplishments, and a little sample of what you will find here in my artsy nook of the blogosphere.

Along with all of my amazing sponsor logos, and a QR code that will bring you right here!

I seriously couldn't be happier with them, or with my choice of printer!

You may have noticed that one thing that I am big on is branding. My Etsy shop banner is the same as my Facebook profile picture is the same as my blog header.

It's also the cover art for my *new* gorgeous to the n'th degree business cards that I just got from TPH Canada!

Do you have a brand that is slightly all-over-the-place? Graphics not matching up? What do you want your brand or blog to say about you?

Blogger{at}BlogHer12: Business Cards!

The theme for this weeks' Blogger{at}BlogHer12 hop is your hand outs!

I've got to say, perfect timing! My business cards were just finalized this morning with my printing sponsor

and I adore them!
front of the cards with my beautiful logo

back of the cards with shop, blog, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and email information
Now, these are my business card sized handouts that will be given to some bloggers here and there, but I'm also going to be doing a 4x6 postcard size with amazing coverart photography from Hanlon Lain Photography on the front, and then some quips about me and what you'll find here at the Sweet Stella's blog. I don't want my cards to be all about links and email addresses ~ I want them to speak about who I am as an artist and blogger...so much more than a link!
